What's covered in an aerobic maintenance contract
A licensed maintenance provider inspects your aerobic system every 90 days. We measure sludge depth, test chlorine residual, verify the aerator output, confirm spray pattern, check the alarm panel, and file a quarterly report with your county designated representative.
Skipping the contract puts you out of compliance with TCEQ rules and can hold up a future home sale. Our plans start at $250/year for standard residential ATUs.
Common aerobic system repairs
The most frequent calls we get: aerator stopped humming (typical 5–7 year lifespan), spray heads not rotating, chlorinator running out between visits, alarm tripping after heavy rain, and effluent pump failure. Most repairs are completed in one visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are aerobic septic systems required in Texas?+
They aren't required statewide, but most Collin, Denton, and parts of Dallas county lots require aerobic systems because of black-gumbo clay soil that won't perc a conventional drain field.
Do I need a maintenance contract for my aerobic system?+
Yes. Texas Administrative Code 30 TAC §285 and every DFW county require an active maintenance contract with quarterly inspections for aerobic treatment units.
How often does an aerobic septic system need pumping?+
Typically every 2 to 3 years for the trash compartment. Your maintenance provider should measure sludge depth each visit and recommend pumping when it exceeds about one-third of working depth.
What chlorine tablets can I use in my aerobic system?+
Only NSF-certified septic-grade calcium hypochlorite tablets. Pool tablets (trichlor) are illegal for septic use and create dangerous gas reactions with effluent.
Why is my aerobic alarm going off?+
Usually a failed aerator, tripped high-water float, or pump failure. Don't ignore it — call your maintenance provider the same day.
